Contestant Passes Up New Car, Wins New Boat on 'Price Is Right'
Not everyone wants a new car. Take Dakota, for example, a contestant on Wednesday's 'The Price Is Right' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). Dakota was offered a package that included kitchen appliances, dinner for a year, and a Ford sedan in the Showcase Showdown. He passed that on to his opponent, Abigail.
Instead, Dakota got a package that included kite-boarding gear, a kite-surfing trip to New Zealand, and a sailboat. "He's really happy about the sailboat," said host Drew Carey. Abigail bid $26,311 on her package, and Dakota bid a flat $28,000 on his.
Dakota apparently knows his aquatic equipment. Abigail was off by more than $5,000, while Dakota missed by only $551. He wound up winning $42,137 worth of gear, which we think will suit him just fine.

Matt Logelin will headline Book Festival
*I read his book in 1 day. It is one of the best books currently out. If you haven't read his blog or his book, it is a must.

The Gaithersburg Book Festival, now in its second year, has recruited a number of national authors, as well as the local favorites.
The keynote for the May 21 events is Matt Logelin, the author of “Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love.” His story tells how he and his daughter found their way after his wife died only 27 hours after giving birth to Madeline.
Logelin is scheduled to talk at 4 p.m. on the grounds of City Hall in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, where the one-day festival is being held. Last year 8,000 people attended.
Among the 80 authors who have signed up are Elizabeth Berg, Alex Berenson, Eleanor Brown, Rita Mae Brown, Stephen Hunter, Paula McLain and James Swanson and Sarah Pekkanen.
Two panels willdiscuss the topics “The State of the Book” and “There’s a Children’s Book in Me — How Do I Get It Published?”
Clare Vanderpool (Photo by Annmarie Algya) One workshop will be led by Jack Chen, a senior at Wootton High School, who is the founder of JJ Express Magazine. His topic is “Creating Comics for Social Change.”
There will also be a Children’s Village with authors Clare Vanderpool, Kathryn Erskine, Alison Hart and actor Brian Meehl.
The festival is introducing a new feature called “A Conversation With...”One of ArtsPost’s favorite critics, Ron Charles, the Post’s fiction editor, will discuss writing with Eleanor Brown, Washington native and the author of “The Weird Sisters.”

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Matt and Liz Logelin welcomed their first daughter, Madeline, into the world on March 24, 2008. Just twenty-seven hours later, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, without ever holding her daughter.
Though confronted with a very difficult situation, Matt chose to keep moving forward, to make a life for Maddy.
In "Two Kisses for Maddy", Matt shares memories of his courtship and marriage to Liz. He also discusses finding support through his newborn daughter and the enormous online community of strangers who became his friends.

A Gift From God, Has Gone Home

Two Kids Hospital Visit
Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on stretchers next to each other outside the operating room--- the first surgeries of the day.
The first kid leans over and asks, "What are you in here for?"
The second kid says, "I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a little nervous."
The first kid says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up,... they give you lots of Jell-O and Ice Cream. It's a breeze."
The second kid then asks, "What are you here for?"
The first kid says, "A circumcision."
"Whoa!" the second kid replies. "Good luck, buddy. I had that done when I was born.
Couldn't walk for a year."
The first kid leans over and asks, "What are you in here for?"

Mr. Bob Spiegelman
Here is the latest on Mr. Bob Spiegelman, the man that has made the LHS Marching Band the outstanding band it is today. The excerpt below was taken from his Caringbridg.org site. "I received several telephone calls and text messages about Bob today. This message is a capsulate from Doug Hoover. "Bob is on life support. Doctors met with his family and explained that he is near the end. The parents went home to get some rest. Fred and Cecile will be at the hospital on Thursday and decide whether or not to remove the life support system. Bob is not in pain, but the doctors conveyed that the end is near. This is very hard for his parents and brother Ron. You have no idea what the phone calls, emails, and visits mean the to family They are so touched by the love you have shown for Bob and them." Please continue to pray for Bob and the family. Pray for comfort and understanding during this troublesome time."

Mr. Bob Spiegelman Update
For those of you haven't yet heard, the LHS Marching Band Director, Bob Spiegelman has Non Hotchkins Lymphoma. He is currently being treated at Siteman Cancer Center here is STL for the 2nd time. Here is the latest journal entry:

I received a call on Tuesday night from Tom Poshak that Bob's neighbor took him to Siteman as he was not feeling very good. I heard from Doug Hoover this morning that Bob was going to get some antibiotics at Siteman last night. More details later. Keep Bob in your thoughts and prayers.

Lowes vs. Home Depot
I say no to Home Depot. I went there today to find a few screws, bolts if you will and had two employees helping me, and the end result, neither sent me home with the item I was needing. Now at Lowes, I can go in find 1 employee and get exactly what I need. Goes to show Lowes knows their Sh** whereas Home Depot does NOT.
