He Did It

As I am sure you already know, I LOVE going to all of Chris' races and cheering him on. Well yesterday was the last race of 2008. Sunday's have been reserved for Cycle Cross. All I can say is burr. Thank goodness for hand and feet warmers. ahhhh. Alright now on to the race itself. This was held in Hermann, MO (how beautiful) and it was the Cycle Cross State Champs race. Chris started in what I thought was a good spot. We all know where you start can have a deep impact on how you place in the end. The course was huge, but looked fun. During the first lap Chris placed 3rd, then shortly there after, took the 1st place spot and as the 50 min race, raced along he continued to make a bigger gap between him and the 2nd place guy. Chris only fell once, and it was in the sand pit (last lap, home stretch)thanks to the jinxing by the announcer dude. (The announcer said "unless someone goes out there and tackles Chris or he has a mechanical, we are looking at our first place winner". - That is when Chris went down in the sand pit) The end result was he took 1st and not only gained the MO Cycle Cross State Champ, however that gained Chris the 2nd Mo State Champ title for the season.
The odd part is, if you ask Chris he doesn't feel as hot and strong as he could have been this season. And also, he has mixed feelings regarding yesterdays race. Although he raced within his category, he feels he should have raced in the 1,2's. And lastly, if it were not for a teammate J. Matthews, he almost didn't attend Sunday's race. Gasp!

CONGRATS, CHRIS.......A TOUGH JOB EXTREMELY WELL DONE!!!!!
You do however make it look easy.
