New Brewing Co - STL
To open the tasting room of its new brewery to the public on Sunday (Dec. 18).
The tasting room at 7458 Manchester Road in Maplewood will be open from noon to 7 p.m. with both draft and bottled Side Project beers available. Also, bottles of Side Project's Foedre Fermier will be available to go for $25.
The brewery tasting room will also be open from noon-7 p.m. on Dec. 31.
Regular hours, noon-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, begin Jan. 7.

Fireworks in STL
These five picks are just a sampling, though. There are plenty more options across the region, includingEureka's Red, White & You, the Heritage & Freedom Fest in O'Fallon, Missouri, Wentzville's Liberty Fest & Parade, Chesterfield's 4th of July Fireworks Celebration, Kirkwood Community Freedom Festival and Fireworks, the Mississippi River Fireworks Festival in Alton...and many more.

- The granddaddy of them all. If you’re looking for a show that calls to mind words like "mega," "ooh," and "ahh," get to the Grand Basin by 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and by 9:30 p.m. Monday. The whole weekend is full of bands, food, dogs showing off, water-skiing demos, and all manner of fair stuff, with each night capped off by spectacular fireworks.

- July 4th is certainly a holiday for patriotism to be on display, and what better place to honor our service members than Jefferson Barracks? JB Blast brings music from the Air Force Band of Mid-America and Roots in Blue, with fireworks kicking off as night falls (around 9:15 p.m.). There will be frosty treats and other goodies on hand, and you can tote in coolers if you’d rather bring your own. Admission is free, and the festival opens at 5 p.m.

- St. Charles might be long on historic charm, but it also knows how to party. Want to see bands, stilt-walkers, and circus performers before the big crash-boom-bang? Sure you do. Riverfest has plenty of options for the kiddos, too. And on Monday, take in the parade, stepping off at 10 a.m. There are also fireworks Sunday and Monday night, starting at 9:20 p.m.

- In Webster Groves, you can party with a purpose. The weekend’s festivities benefit the Webster Groves Lions Club, which holds a carnival and barbecue to raise funds for their work of assisting the blind and visually impaired. Besides good grub and whirligig rides, the festival includes the Miss Webster Pageant. The fireworks, critical to any Independence Day celebration, are on Sunday and Monday nights at 9:30 p.m.

- Visit Granite City for an old-school carnival with rides, vendors, a softball tournament, music, parachute demonstrations, and, of course, fireworks. The fun starts early on Thursday and runs through the actual holiday on Monday, so there’s no excuse to miss out. (The fireworks, though, are only on Monday night; they start poppin’ at 9:15 p.m. by the main stage at Coolidge Junior High School.)

Five Places to See Holiday Lights in St. Louis
Tilles Park
St. Louis County's Tilles Park is a beloved destination for holiday lights for the 30th year running. Every night between now and January 2, you can drive through more than a million lights illuminating holiday scenes. The display is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and Saturdays are strictly for carriage rides, which are a pretty magical way to take in the scene. Visit between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m., and bring cash because they don’t take cards. It's $10 for a family car, $20 for a limo, $40 per van, and $90 for a tour bus. 9551 Litzsinger.
Saint Louis Zoo
Do polar bears get excited for the imminent arrival of an overweight elf? Find out by visiting the zoo’s Wild Lights display, featuring illuminated trees and plants, animal-themed attractions, and Kali the polar bear. Hear tales about Arctic creatures, hang out with puffins, and tuck into s’mores. Wild Lights runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday, November 27 through 29; Wednesday to Sunday, December 2 through 6, 9 through 13, and 16 through 23; Saturday through Wednesday, December 26 through 30; and Friday through Sunday January 1 through 3. Admission is $7 for zoo members during weekdays and $9 on weekends, $8 for non-members on weekdays and $10 during weekends. Forest Park, 1 Government.
Anheuser-Busch Brewery
It’s been 30 years since the iconic St. Louis brewery started decking the halls and welcoming folks to kick off the holiday season. This year, take a free, self-guided walking tour of the brewery. If you’re too old for sitting on Santa’s knee, you’re probably old enough to sample some free Anheuser-Busch products, including Budweiser, Bud Light, Stella Artois, Stella Artois Cidre, and Bud Light Lime-A-Rita. Elves of all ages can buy s’mores kits for $2.50 and roast them over a crackling fire, and plenty of beer-friendly food will be available at stations in the Biergarten. There are also plenty of luxe packages available, ranging from a private fire pit to a session with the planet’s most famous Clydesdales. The brewery is open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5 to 10 p.m., from now through January 3. There's no programming on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, or New Year’s Eve, but you can still gawk at the lights. 1200 Lynch.
National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
The events at the Way of Lights focus on the biblical aspects of the Christmas story. The lights and activities tell the ancient tale in fantastic splendor. Drive through an inspired display of the Christian tale; take in hand bells, choral music, or puppetry; and ride a camel at the petting zoo. There’s an amazing Christmas tree display and wreaths up for grabs in an auction, as well as a life-size nativity done in Lego blocks. Through January 1, the exhibit is open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. There's no programming on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, but the lights will be up. 442 S. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Resort
Santa’s Magical Kingdom near Six Flags might be the main Midwest stop for Santa himself. The display features a tunnel of dancing lights, gingerbread houses, and an elfin toy workshop. It's open every night—including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve—through January 3 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., and from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $20 per car, truck, minivan, or SUV, $30 per limo or van. And remember to get photos with Santa at Kringle’s General Store. Eureka, Mo.
